This fantastic conversion from Dakar Design and Conversions (Steve Bennett) is based on a 1997 V8 LHD Discovery with 2" suspension lift, pro-comp shocks and Bearmach springs. It features a completely re-upholsted interriro in black Alcantara and Leather and a new CD stereo, amp and sub. Lots of other indvidual details including a digital safe for added security. 1992-registered Dakar 4x4 on a galvanised 1990 Discovery chassis. Range
Rover running gear (3.9 EFi V8, ZF 4HP22 main gearbox, Borg Warner
viscous-coupled transfer box, vented discs at the front) and interior.
Vehicle been laid up in a dry barn for the past two years, but
approximately six months prior to it being mothballed it had the following
work done:
- Four new BFGoodrich 33x12.5x15 Mud Terrain tyres
- Four new dampers
- New steering damper
- New water pump
- Brake calipers rebuilt and new pads fitted
- Flexible brake lines replaced
- New polybushes throughout
- New A-frame joint on top of rear axle
It has also had a new battery fitted (10th September 2010).
This is a particularly scruffy example of a Dakar, however it's
mechanically sound and there's no structural corrosion. It had an oil
change before firing it up for the first time after it's two year storage.
Engine starts first time with no untoward noises, gearbox functions as it
should and there are no leaks to speak of.
There is a canvas roof, a set of steel door frames and a spare engine and
gearbox should any prospective purchaser want them :-)
No MOT or tax, however V5 is present and vehicle is currently SORNed.
